My niece Yana is celebrating her fourth, not fifth birthday (She's a giant!) on April 6, and as a present, I made some Simpsons cupcakes! I have never tried making traditional fondant before and was honestly intimidated by it. After 'bugging' Gel Colet with questions on gumpaste, royal icing and fondant (Thanks and sorry Gel!), I decided to not do any of the aforementioned and went with MMF or marshmallow fondant instead. For a non-pro like me, it was yummier, cheaper and easier to make. Together with my hubby Dong, we brought to life (or to MMF) the Simpsons cast. I wish we could do more but my recipe only called for 19 cupcakes. All in all, I have posted only 18 because I ate one. Haha. It's good! Magnolia Bakery's vanilla cupcake recipe with my own orange-vanilla buttercream frosted on top and filled inside the cupcakes, with marshmallow fondant as toppers. What a FIRST try! To say it was fun is not enough! Therese, my daughter, was enjoying eating the 'reject' cast members. Let's now all sing together... Tan, tan, taran-tan, taran-tan, tatatatatan... the Simpsons...

Marshmallow fondant, Gel. I basically just hand-molded everything. I was looking at a colored print out and trying my best given the lack of molding tools and fondant know-how I had. Hubby Dong helped as well. It was FUN! Thanks for listening to my endless queries. In the end, I had to do what I felt was within my capacity. Haha.

Hi Terry! Thanks for the compliment! =) I made them using very clean and maya't mayang hinuhugasang hands. Haha. I molded them using a paring knife and my fingers lang. I had no molding tools kasi I have never handled fondant till the Simpsons... It took me three days to come up with the 18 characters. It's so madugo pero major fun! I plan to make more using MMF.

Super duper thanks Gel! You've been soooo helpful. I actually saved your texts until I finished the cupcakes today. I had to re-read your insider tips, to make sure di ako magkakamali. As it was, it turned out wonderful! Saya-saya! I never knew I had an artiste in me waiting to come out! Haha. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. =)

Super kilig nga eh. Try to type Simpsons Cupcakes, number one sa Google yung cupcakes ko. Actually, even my daughter is in a Simpsons mood for a month or so na. We have two DVDs na entire 24 seasons yata, or something eye-straining like that. She watches it daily and we always have to tell her, "Uy, Bart did something bad, don't do that." "Homer is not good, don't be like him!" Rated PG talaga! Pero super funny e, so we watch it - me and my husband and Reece, daily. Talk about fans! =) I like Lisa too. She is very sane and smart. Do you know among all the voice talents, who do several characters in any given show, it's only the voice-over talent of Lisa who does only ONE character, and that is LISA's. Trivia!

Haha. Thanks to my husband also. Kasi tatlong araw yata namin ginawa yan. Sabi nga niya, "ang tagal-tagal nating ginagawa to, wala pang isang minuto kakainin!" That was so true. It was worth it though. =)
